OK. so I'm not so savy
This is embarrassing but I didn't realize anyone had left comments for me about my blog entries. I finally learned about this when Jilynn asked me if I had read the comment she left. Wow, do I feel silly. Anyway thanks for all the comments and well wishes. It is great to feel a little more connected, especially now that I know to look for comments, I also realize how easy it is to leave comments. HEE Hee heee.

Memory Retrievers
It seems to me like my kids are constantly triggering memories from my childhood. Sunday, Elliot did something that reminded me of sitting next to James at church when I was little. As usual he wanted to draw. When he was finished, he showed my his picture. He had titled it, "brain world". Everything, trees, rivers, house, road was bubbled and looked like a brain. Suddenly, I was 10 again, and James was drawing another maze. My favorite part of his mazes were always the "brain". He would bubble the path and it would look like a brain. I swear, I could smell the scent that hung in the air at the chapel I grew up in. You probably know the smell, old men, cherrios and dust. However, despite what you may think. I also found myself smiling like I did when I was ten. I certainly don't mind going back to that spot in my life......

A return to old goals
There have been two times in my life when I was ok with how I looked. One was at age 18, who isn't just about perfect then. The other time was while I was putting in two exercise sessions in one day, everyday but Sunday. I don't know if I looked any better, but just trying that much harder made me ok with how I looked. Therefore, I am returning to that lifestyle. I realize that this seems to be in direct contrast to my earlier post about cutting back in what I do everyday. I hope, however, that this will again give me a boost of energy and optimism that will help me through all the other things I need to do. I started yesterday with a 30 minute session on the elliptical runner and an hour fitness class. Today I got my 1st run in this morning and I am looking forward to another after dinner. Truth be told, I just want to look 18 and hot again.....

What a Weekend
Just to prove that I have tales of a busy mom, we had a busy but great weekend. Friday was spent cleaning, allowing the kids time to play with friends and getting Katherine to a babysitting job. Although, I finished up the job at 9:30 so K could get enough sleep. I was very happy when the family came home around 10:30.
The fun really started at 6 am Saturday morning. It was the big day of the first dance competition. The girls were excited and had a hard time holding still for the make-up, hair (thank goodness for buns) and fake eyelashes. They were absolutely beautiful when we left the house at 7:15, however, they had both aged about 4 years with all the additions to their faces.
Both girls dance with grace, poise and energy. Both Emilia and Katherine had tumbling parts in the dances. I was so nervous for them but all was well.
Between dances, we went to two soccer games. (Elliot played hard but lost his game, Katherine played well and won her game.) Finished a little duct work in the basement bathroom (a great story for another posting), and ran a couple of errands.
By 2:45 we were back at the competition for the show routine and awards. What a fun few hours. Lot's of great dances but we were proved the best when we walked away with first place.
I certainly look forward to two more competitions. I only hope the girls feel that all the hard work has paid off.

I have become what I used to make fun of....
You know those women who think they can and need to do everything. I used to ridicule them mercilessly. Now, when I look at my calendar I realize I am one of them. PTA, Reading intervention, Dance and fitness classes. I get the kids to soccer, piano, dance, karate, tumbling, and church activities. I don't miss games, or performances. I still think my house needs to be cleaned daily, the clothes need to be washed and hot meals need to be on the table every night for everyone to sit down to. I just realized this isn't working. I don't have anytime to unwind. I get so tense nobody wants to be around me. If my family doesn't want to be with me, what is the use of everything else I fit into my life?
Next year.... No PTA President, Less time with reading at the school, less activities for the kids. More time with the kids & hubby, just unwinding. Katherine will be 12 soon, only 6 more years until she leaves home. I really can't afford to waste any more time with stuff that just doesn't count. I guess I will still clean, cook and wash.
