Why you should check your kids homework...

(Here's the reply the teacher received the following day)
Dear Mrs. Jones,I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in. Sincerely, Mrs.Smith

Hate

So, Matthew pointed out that I love a lot of things. (the last 3 posts started out with "I love...") He told me I should blog about what I hate. I really only have one thing on that list.

1) I hate it when people tell me what to do.

2008 Christmas season

One of the strangely opposing events of the Christmas season is the Christmas Dance show. I love watching my girls dance, however, the stress of having 3 classes of little girls dancing in the same show creates the opposing feelings of stress and anxiety. My daughters were beautiful and I managed to sneak out and watch them.

This year we had the opportunity to attend a recital for Katherine at a beautiful "concert" hall (actually just a piano store with a large room and 5 grand piano's in it). While she didn't get the chance to play her favorite piece, she did a great job. Maybe she learned to value of practice.

Finally, Christmas! I was a bit apprehensive about Christmas this year. I always felt like Christmas was for the little kids. I am just about out of little kids. (Elliot still believes and Emilia still wants to believe) I was afraid some of the magic and fun would be lost. I was so wrong. This was the best Christmas yet. Everyone had fun. No one needed to go down for a nap. Everyone played together and we just had a great day of family time. My favorite picture of the season is always the one of the kids in their Christmas best in front of the tree. It is fun to see how they change, or don't change from year to year. I look forward to many, many more Christmas days.

New Year

New Year. I love the new year almost as much as I love snow. To me they are both crisp and clean. I haven't marred my life yet this year. I can't wait to see what will happen in 2009. Not that I am allowing just anything to happen. I have set goals again this year. I hope to put myself in a position so that when a classroom in the school district comes up (one that will fit my requirements) I will be able to be considered, seriously, for it. I also hope to be able to run 4 half marathons. It would be awesome if I could shave a few minutes off each consecutive race. But just finishing is always a great accomplishment for this body that is getting older. Mostly, I want to be a better mother and wife. I hope to be able to do this by making the time I spend with my family more patient and attentive.

Happy New Year to everyone reading this little blog. I wish the best for everyone, except maybe Alabama.
